20 Types of Physiotherapists

There are 20 types of physiotherapists. Sarwarpro provides all types of physiotherapists in all Delhi. In this article, I will share all types of physiotherapists so know all types of physiotherapists and which type your requirement select his type physiotherapist in your home near.

This is a lot of different physiotherapists. As I was preparing to write this article, I wasn't sure if I could even name all of them. We tend to think of physiotherapy and the physiotherapists together as one entity. They are a group or individual who can do everything and know all conditions.

There is a lot of expertise within the industry, so you must find the right physiotherapist to treat your condition or injury. You could imagine taking your car to a boat auto shop. They might be able to diagnose the problem, but would you feel comfortable having them fix it?

The same reasoning applies to physiotherapy. You're unlikely to visit a Neuro physiotherapist to fix a problem with your pelvic floor.

This post will cover the 20 types of physiotherapists. We'll discuss the conditions they treat, and you should be able to get a good idea of which physiotherapists you should visit and how they can assist you.

1.ORTHOPEDIC PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Orthopedic physiotherapy can be defined as the medical specialty that deals with the correction of deformities or functional impairments of the skeletal structure, particularly the spine and extremities, and any associated structures such as muscles and ligaments.

You have an injury or condition related to injuries or conditions that affect the skeleton (bones), muscles and tendons, and the ligaments, ligaments, and fascia. Orthopedic physiotherapy is a broad term that covers disciplines such as hand physiotherapists or shoulder physiotherapists. More on these later.

2. CARDIORESPIRATORY PHYSIOTHERAPIST

In the coming months, you'll likely hear a lot more about cardio-respiratory therapy physiotherapy. Cardio-respiratory therapy physiotherapists are vital as people recover from COVID-19. This specialty of physiotherapy focuses on the treatment, rehabilitation, and compensation of patients with injuries to the heart or lungs.

If you have acute conditions such as asthma, chest infections, or trauma, you should see a cardio-respiratory specialist if you are recovering from major surgery or preparing for it. They can also treat a variety of chronic respiratory and cardiac conditions, including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), Cystic Fibrosis (CF), and post-myocardial injury (MI).

3. PEDIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPIST/ KIDS PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Pediatric physiotherapy is a type of physiotherapy that treats children and adolescents from birth to 25 years.

A pediatric physiotherapist is usually consulted to assess the condition or injury of a child. It can include assessment of gross motor function and posture. This includes strength, gait, and flexibility, as well as coordination and sensory processing. Manual therapy, hands-on facilitation, and education are the most common methods pediatric physiotherapists use to treat children.

4. SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST/SPORTS INJURY PHYSIOTHERAPIST

This specialization in physiotherapy focuses on the prevention and rehabilitation of athletes and patients involved in sports activities.

A physiotherapist who specializes in sport can assist athletes in many ways. They can help you improve your physical strength, increase muscle flexibility, prevent injuries, treat injuries, and even reduce pain.

5. WOMEN'S HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPIST

This physiotherapist uses treatment to treat all conditions affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor. You can get incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, and constipation.

There is increasing evidence that physiotherapy can relieve and even cure many of these symptoms. But, unfortunately, these services are not known by most women. If you have any of these symptoms, a women's health professional is the person you need.

6. PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Women's health has physiotherapists that mainly focus on the pelvic floors. These physiotherapists assist women in rehabilitating their pelvic floor muscles. These muscles can become weak from pregnancy, surgery, heavy lifting, or being overweight.

The pelvic floor muscles support the womb, bladder, and bowel (colon), creating a sling from the pubic bone at one end to the tailbone at another. Incontinence (leakage) or prolapse can result from weak muscles. A pelvic floor specialist can treat these symptoms.

7. NEURO PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Neuro physiotherapy is a form of therapeutic intervention that treats patients with neurological disorders. Neuro physiotherapy does not consist of one treatment method. Instead, it combines many techniques used to treat patients suffering from specific traumas and disorders.

The following are conditions that Neuro Physiotherapists may treat:

  • Stroke
  • Parkinson's
  • Brain Injuries
  • Concussions
  • MS
  • Alzheimer's disease

8. VESTIBULAR PHYSIOTHERAPIST / VERTIGO PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Your visual system, proprioceptive and vestibular systems are the three main things that keep your world stable. These three elements can be compared to legs on a stool. If one leg is missing or wobbly, your whole balance is affected.

Vestibular (or Vertigo) physiotherapists can help you regain balance and eliminate dizziness. To rebalance your system, they use a variety of equipment and exercises. This therapy is ideal for those who experience dizziness, unsteadiness, or vertigo following a head injury.

9. CONCUSSION/TBI PHYSIOTHERAPIST

A physiotherapist can help in many ways after a concussion. This is a very common injury, so physiotherapists are trained to treat it.

Manual therapy, coordination exercises, and strengthening neck muscles can all be used for concussion treatment.

10. HAND PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Hand therapy may include splinting and wound care, management, scarring, exercises, normalization, and education to allow a safe and prompt return to work or daily activities.

A hand physiotherapist is usually a Certified Hand Therapist and has extensive knowledge and experience in rehabilitation of the hand and wrist, elbow, elbow, and shoulder.

11. FOOT PAIN PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Are you a runner or jogger? Do you wear orthotics? Are you a victim of foot surgery? If yes, you should seek out a physiotherapist with experience in treating foot and ankle pain.

You've probably experienced foot pain at some point. It can impact your daily activities and make it difficult to live your life. These are some of the ways that physiotherapy can treat foot pain.

  • Do a thorough gait analysis
  • Assessment of the Musculoskeletal System
  • Stabilization of the ankle, calf, and upper muscles of the leg
  • Foot mobilization (if needed)

12. SHOULDER PHYSIOTHERAPIST

As with foot pain, shoulder pain can have a significant impact on your daily activities. Shoulder pain physiotherapists focus on your upper extremities, mobility, range, and muscle imbalances, as well as your mobility. They can understand the interplay of all muscles and have a deep understanding of the upper body.

Shoulder pain can be caused by injury or even from sleeping incorrectly. A physiotherapist can create a shoulder or rotator cuff conditioning program.

13. ICU PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Although physiotherapists are common in hospitals, many don't realize that they are needed most in the ICU (intensive medical unit). Physiotherapists can help patients who are disabled or have suffered serious injuries to reposition and regain mobility.

14. ONLINE PHYSIOTHERAPIST/VIRTUAL PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Virtual physiotherapists and online physiotherapists have experienced exponential growth since the COVID-19 pandemic. Although virtual physiotherapy was an option before the pandemic, clinics have become more popular to offer this service to their clients. These physiotherapists are skilled in verbal communication and know to explain your condition.

Regardless of the pandemic, virtual physiotherapy is a great option for those unable or unwilling to travel to a clinic. It is also a good alternative if you live far from physiotherapy facilities. Most clinics have an online physiotherapist, so it should not be difficult to find one if you need one.

15. MOBILE PHYSIOTHERAPIST

These are not to be taken lightly, but they are our favorite physiotherapists! We are aware of the benefits of our mobile clinic. Our physiotherapists are all specialists, which means we can treat many different injuries and conditions.

Mobile physiotherapists can see clients at home, work, hospitals, or community centers or pools. Mobile physiotherapists can see clients' daily challenges and make it easy for them to seek treatment. There is no need to drive, park, or deal with traffic.

16. BACKPAIN PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Did you know that back problems are one of the most common conditions we see? You will feel back pain at some point in your lifetime. This could be due to an injury, a misalignment of your spine, or any other reason. A back pain physiotherapist is the best option. You can get back to your best by using manual therapy, stretching, and modalities like ice/heat or shockwave treatment, TENs machine, ultrasound treatment, and strengthening.

The back pain physiotherapists can also help you with your neck and shoulder positioning, posture, and sleep assessments. All of these factors can have a significant impact on your back health.

17. KNEE PAIN PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Knee pain, just like back pain, is a major issue we see. Knee osteoarthritis is a condition that affects 10% of men and 13% of women. This is the most common condition. However, we see many clients who have had their knees replaced or have suffered a serious injury/accident to their knees.

Knee pain physiotherapists can help in the same way as back pain physiotherapists. They use different modalities, including manual therapy, myofascial releases, and strengthening exercises.

18. GERIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPIST

There are many physical issues that we face as we age. These include sore joints, reduced mobility, back pain, and more serious diseases such as MS, Osteoporosis, and Parkinson's. However, seniors often accept the aches and discomforts of aging as part of life and learn to live with them.

Geriatric physiotherapy is the answer! Regular visits with a physiotherapist are a great way to help seniors feel years younger and regain their independence.

19. MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is the treatment of conditions that affect your movement - how your joints and muscles work together. An injury that makes it difficult or painful to move whether your feet, ankles, legs, hands, arms, shoulders, or backs, can greatly impact your quality of life.

This umbrella term is broad and covers many physiotherapists mentioned in this article.

20. REHAB CONSULTANT

Rehabilitation consultants provide case management and vocational rehabilitation consultations. These consultants typically work for private companies contracted by the province (ie. ICBC is committed to providing efficient services that comply with legal requirements. They are responsible for managing client cases, assessing each client's vocational ability, addressing any special accommodations they may need at work, and assisting clients with their return to work.

Rehabilitation consultants can be occupational therapists or physiotherapists. They can also help you find additional resources to help you continue working if you have been injured or are diagnosed with the condition that makes it impossible.

CONCLUSION

Wow! This is it! There are 20 types of physiotherapists. We are now at number 20. This is an easy one - the best physiotherapist will be the one who is familiar with your condition, communicates well, and whom you trust.

It would help if you were not afraid to consult with multiple physiotherapists as they may not be the best fit for your needs. India is facing rising COVID-19 and social isolation.

Many people work from home, which can increase stress. You need to take care of your health and well-being as well as your home's needs. It is a great time to be able to live a pain-free lifestyle while you're at home. Online physiotherapy consultations are a great option.
